Marsha Sue (Owen) Cohen, age 69, of Puyallup, WA went home to her Lord on October 31, 2012, with her family by her side. With grace and most often a smile, Marsha bravely fought pancreatic cancer for 20 months.

Born in Denver, Colorado, Marsha resided in Sumner all her childhood years. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1961 and attended Washington State University where she received a B.A. in English.

Marsha spent a vast amount of time and energy working for the benefit of others. While stationed in Thailand for three years, Marsha served as a foster parent assisting American families adopt orphaned Thai babies.

After returning to the states, Marsha earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. Using her counseling abilities, she spent ten years as a geriatric mental health therapist at Good Samaritan Hospital from 1980 to 1990. She then worked as a school counselor at Clover Park School District’s Oakwood Elementary from 1990 to 2007 when she retired.

Marsha was a devoted member of Summer United Methodist church from 1945 to 2012. She was a committed Christian and served her church, faithfully. Also members, she was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Ann Owen who were residents of Sumner beginning in 1945.

She is survived by her husband, John Cohen of Puyallup, son Michael Cadle and wife Camie, grandsons Christopher, Dane & Derrick of Bonney Lake, and daughter Kristine Todd and her husband David, grandchildren Michelle, Marie, Marcus & Matthew of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

For 35 years Marsha along with her dear friends spent one evening a month in a book group. Marsha's devotion in life was to her husband, children and grandchildren and also to her very special friends and church family. Marsha was known for her giving and loving qualities that she expressed so generously with her family, friends and career. Wherever life took Marsha, she found a way to bless others with her caring and loving heart. Marsha's legacy of compassion and generosity toward others will carry on for those she touched.

Our family sends our heartfelt gratitude for your love and support during her illness.
